Frequently asked
How do I enable iCloud sync so my matches follow me to my iPad?
Settings → Sync → toggle iCloud sync on. You'll need to be signed in to iCloud on both devices with the same Apple ID.
How do I delete a single match?
Two ways:
- Match History → swipe left on the match → tap Remove
- Open the match → scroll down → Delete this match (with confirmation)
Either way, deleting a completed match also reverts its ELO impact, so your ratings stay accurate.
How do I share my profile / get someone's profile?
Players & Stats → tap your name → Share via QR. Send the QR or the allsport://... link. The recipient opens it and sees your stats; they can also import you as a player on their device.
To receive someone's profile: Players & Stats → top-right + → Find by link or ID (paste a link) or Scan QR.
Two friends and I want to play in person, can my friend's ELO count?
Yes. Have your friend open Brackdown → Quick Start → Join Nearby Match. Make sure both phones are on Bluetooth (and ideally the same Wi-Fi). They tap your match in their list, their profile sends to your phone with their real ELO, the match runs, and when it completes both devices update their respective ELOs by the same amount.
Why does my ELO move so much / so little?
We use USCF-style adaptive K-factor:
- Under 30 matches in a sport: K = 40 (you move fast — ratings are uncertain)
- 30+ matches: K = 20 (you move at standard pace)
- 2400+: K = 10 (your rating is well-established, hard to move)
Wins against higher-rated players give a bigger boost. Losses to lower-rated players cost more.
How do I create a custom game?
Start a Match → tap "Choose a sport or game" → Create custom game → name it, pick a family, set the win condition (first to N points / win by M). It's saved forever.
My Live Activity disappeared from my lock screen
Live Activities expire after 8 hours of being open or after 4 hours of inactivity. iOS also dismisses them if your phone is heavily memory-constrained. Re-score a point in your match to restart it.
The AR scoreboard isn't placing anything
ARKit needs a flat surface (table, floor, court) with enough texture / lighting for the camera to detect a plane. Try a textured surface in better light, and slowly move the phone in a small circle to give ARKit more frames.
Does Brackdown upload my photos?
No. Photos attached to matches stay on your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync (which uses your personal iCloud account, not our servers — we don't have any).
Can I export my data?
Settings → Export → Generate match history CSV. You'll get a CSV with every match's date, sport, participants, winner, score, and notes. Open in Numbers, Excel, or Google Sheets.
How do tournaments work?
Quick Start → Host a Tournament → name it, pick a sport, format (single elim or round robin), add 2–32 players, optional best-of-N series, optional ELO seeding → Create. The bracket builds automatically. Tap any match to score it; winners advance automatically.
My phone is full of "Brackdown" notifications
Settings on your iPhone → Brackdown → Notifications → toggle off. Or in Brackdown → open the match → Schedule → Clear schedule to cancel that match's reminder.
Can I undo a match completion?
Yes, while in the scoring view: tap Undo. If the match was already complete, undo will revert both players' ELO too. If you've already left the match, you can also delete it (which also reverts ELO).
How do I reset my profile / start over?
Either delete the app and reinstall (wipes everything), or:
- Settings → Developer → Reset onboarding (re-runs the welcome flow)
- Players & Stats → swipe to delete each player → Match History → delete each match
There isn't currently a one-click "factory reset" — let me know if you'd like one.
